Refunds
If you paid for Sunk Cost and it is not what you wanted, ask. We would rather refund you than keep money from someone who is not using the thing.
How to ask
Email hello@sunkcost.app with the receipt or order number and roughly what went wrong. A real person reads it, usually within a couple of days. You do not have to justify yourself at length — "changed my mind" is a reason.
Refunds are issued by whoever took the payment. If you bought through a store or another platform, the money went to them and not to us, so the refund has to come back the same way — their own refund form is the fastest route, and it is linked from the receipt they sent you. Tell us either way: we can often ask on your behalf when a request has been turned down, and if a refund is because something is broken, we need to know that more than we need the money.
What we will refund
- A purchase made by mistake, or made twice.
- A purchase where the app does not do what this site says it does, or does not work on your device.
- A subscription that renewed while you had stopped using it, if you tell us reasonably soon after the charge.
- Anything charged to you that you did not authorise.
Ask early rather than late. A request made close to the charge is straightforward; months of use followed by a request for the whole period back is a conversation, not a refusal.
Cancelling is not refunding
Cancelling a subscription stops the next charge. It does not return one already taken, and it does not cut short the period you have paid for — you keep everything you paid for until that period ends. If you want the last charge back as well, say so; cancelling on its own does not ask us for that.
Deleting the app cancels nothing. A subscription is billed by the account you bought it with, not by the install on your phone, and it keeps renewing until it is cancelled there.
Free trials
Cancel before a trial ends and you are never charged, so there is nothing to refund. Cancelling part-way through keeps your access until the trial's original end date. If a trial converted because you forgot it was running, write to us — that is a normal thing to happen and a normal thing to reverse.
What happens next
An approved refund goes back to the method you paid with. How quickly it appears is up to your bank or card issuer rather than us; a few working days is typical, and longer is not unusual around weekends. We do not issue refunds as credit or as anything other than money.
A refund ends the paid features it covered. Nothing you have added is deleted — your pile stays exactly as it is, minus the limits being back.
Your consumer rights
Nothing here takes away the refund or cancellation rights you have under the law where you live. Where those give you more than this page does, they apply. The rest of the arrangement is in the terms of service, and what is free in the first place is on the pricing page.
