Sunk Cost is made by The Beast Applications. Installing or using the app means you accept what is below. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
The app
Sunk Cost is a game backlog tracker. It is free to download and free to use. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it on devices you control. You may not resell it, redistribute it, or attempt to extract its source.
Sunk Cost Pro
Some features are optional and paid. Buying them is never required to use the app, and nothing you have already added stops working if you do not.
The store or platform you buy through is the seller. Every purchase is processed by them, charged to the account you hold with them, and governed by their terms in addition to these. We never see your payment details.
Price
The current price, in your own currency, is shown in the app before you confirm and again by the seller at the point of purchase. That figure is the one that applies. Prices differ by country and can change; a change never affects a period you have already paid for, and you are told before a renewal at a new price.
Renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period — monthly plans monthly, annual plans annually — until you cancel. Your account is charged shortly before each new period begins.
A one-time purchase, if offered, does not renew and is not a subscription.
Free trial
Where a free trial is offered, it applies to the plan shown on the paywall and lasts for the period stated there. A trial is normally limited to one per account per subscription, so one you have already used cannot be started again.
Cancel before the trial ends and you are not charged. Let it run out and it converts into a paid subscription at the price shown when you started it. Cancelling part-way through a trial keeps your access until the trial's original end date.
Cancelling
Cancel at any time, wherever the subscriptions on the account you bought with are managed. Your receipt says where that is. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not end the period you have already paid for, and you keep Pro until that period runs out.
We cannot cancel a subscription on your behalf. Deleting the app does not cancel it either — the subscription lives with the account you bought it with, not with the install.
Refunds
A refund is issued by whoever took the payment, so where a purchase was made decides where it goes back. The refunds page sets out what we refund and how to ask. Write to us either way if something has gone wrong — we would rather hear it than not, and we can often help even when we cannot issue the refund ourselves.
Game information
Titles, cover art, release dates and playtime estimates come from third-party sources, principally IGDB. They may be incomplete or wrong. We do not sell games, grant access to games, or have any relationship with the publishers whose titles you track. Trade marks belong to their owners.
Your data
Your pile lives on your device. What we do and do not collect is set out in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
Because there is no server copy, we cannot recover your data if you lose your phone or uninstall the app. Nor can we restore it for you. Your Pro entitlement is separate and does restore — it is tied to the account you bought it with.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to break, overload or reverse-engineer the app or the lookup service behind it, use it unlawfully, or use it to infringe anyone's rights. We may withdraw access if you do.
Availability
The app is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and the lookup service may be unavailable at times. When it is, the rest of the app keeps working offline. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death, personal injury or fraud. Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes
These terms may change. Material changes appear here with a new date above, and continued use after that means you accept them. Changes never apply retroactively to a period you have already paid for.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction — without affecting any consumer-protection rights you have where you live, which these terms do not take away.
